MAKING BACON

If you've ever been the victim of a 2-hour-wait brunch, it's enough to make you swear off going out all together. I find it much more enjoyable to prepare a brunch spread at home & leisurely enjoy all the deliciousness over my favorite Food Network & HGTV shows.

My biggest brunch conundrum is always choosing sweet VS savory. This MAPLE PECAN BACON combines sweet with savory plus an added crunch from the pecans, satisfying all of my breakfast cravings.

But this recipe isn't just for breakfast, I love this bacon as a topping for soup, over ricotta crostini, or even plain as an appetizer.

This is your chance to give sweet bacon a try & I promise you'll never turn back.

MAPLE PECAN BACON

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1/4 cup maple syrup

16 ounces thick cut bacon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil & place a wire rack on top. Spray the rack with cooking spray to avoid sticking.

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, cayenne, & pecans. Place bacon slices on the wire rack. Brush bacon with maple syrup & generously sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the top, spreading with your hands.

Bake for 24-26 minutes until bacon is browned, but not burnt. Let cool on the rack for about 2 minutes then remove from rack to cool completely (this is when the bacon gets really crisp).

Serve this bacon up with your favorite brunch menu.

ENJOY!
